A pre-trial checklist covering safety, machinery, navigation and communication, and documentation, followed by a 15-item trial agenda (speed trial, crash-stop, turning circle, endurance run and more) and a sign-off table for the Master, Chief Engineer, Owner, Yard and Class Surveyor.
Work through every pre-trial item before departing the berth, any unchecked item should be formally closed or accepted as a deviation first. Record actual results against each agenda item during the trial itself, and use the sign-off table as the formal record that the trial was conducted and accepted.
