About Project2-me

Who we are and what this portal is for.

project2-me.com is a knowledge portal built around one subject: the project management of shipyard new-build (newbuild) projects. From the day a contract is signed, through steel cutting, keel laying, block construction, outfitting, classification surveys and sea trials, all the way to delivery, this site focuses on how these projects are actually planned, scheduled, controlled and handed over on time and on budget.

Who we are

Project2-me.com is built and maintained by the Project2me team, a small group with hands-on experience inside Turkish shipyards, on both new-build and ship repair contracts. Our backgrounds cover planning and scheduling, progress control, procurement coordination and project management on vessel new-build contracts: building WBS-based master schedules, tracking progress claims and budgets, and coordinating between owners, designers, class societies and suppliers.

Between us we hold engineering and project management qualifications, including formal scheduling training in Oracle Primavera P6 and preparation for the PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) credential. Microsoft Project is the tool we use daily in our own project work, which is also why we built the free MS Project Viewer available on this site.

Why this portal exists

Building a ship is one of the most demanding undertakings in any industry: thousands of interdependent activities, long-lead equipment ordered years ahead, a building dock that must never sit idle, and three principals, owner, yard and class, who have to stay aligned for years. Most of the practical know-how for running a project like this lives in planners' heads, in old spreadsheets and in scattered site notes rather than in any textbook. We built project2-me.com to put that knowledge in one place, in plain language, for the people who actually do the work.

What you'll find here

  • Articles: practical guides written from real newbuild and repair project experience, covering planning, scheduling, risk, cost control, outfitting, quality and classification, procurement and delivery.
  • Lessons: structured, level-tagged learning paths from beginner to advanced, covering the newbuild lifecycle, the work breakdown structure, block erection sequencing, earned value management and more.
  • Documents & Templates: ready-to-use schedules, risk registers, communication matrices, inspection and test plans and checklists you can download and adapt to your own project.
  • MS Project Viewer: open and review Microsoft Project schedules directly in your browser, free, no license required.

Who it's for

Whether you are a planner building the master schedule, a project manager coordinating the trades, an engineer learning how the pieces fit together, or a student preparing for a career in shipbuilding, the content here is written for real-world work, not theory for its own sake.
