project2-me.com is a knowledge portal built around one subject: the project management of shipyard new-build (newbuild) projects. From the day a contract is signed, through steel cutting, keel laying, block construction, outfitting, classification surveys and sea trials, all the way to delivery, this site focuses on how these projects are actually planned, scheduled, controlled and handed over on time and on budget.
Who I am
My name is Günay Yıldız. I have spent more than 14 years working inside Turkish shipyards, on both new-build and ship repair contracts, and I write and build most of what you find on this site myself.
I started in 2011 as a marketing specialist at GEMAK Shipyard preparing repair quotations, then moved into progress control and planning roles at TUZLA GEMI and GEMAK through 2019, running vessel repair schedules, manpower plans, procurement and final billing directly with owner representatives on board. Since 2019 I have worked at HAT-SAN Shipyard, first as Project Planning Coordinator, then Project Manager, and currently as New Building Planning Chief, leading the planning department on new-build vessel contracts: building WBS-based master schedules, tracking progress claims and budgets, coordinating owner, designer and supplier communication, and mentoring the engineers and technicians in my team.
I hold a Ship Machinery Engineering degree from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), a Project Management Certificate from Istanbul Institute, and a Professional Chartering & Ship Broking Certificate. On the scheduling side I am trained in Oracle Primavera P6 (Basic and Advanced level, AKIM Engineering) and completed PMI Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) exam preparation through uCertify in 2023.
Why this portal exists
Building a ship is one of the most demanding undertakings in any industry: thousands of interdependent activities, long-lead equipment ordered years ahead, a building dock that must never sit idle, and three principals, owner, yard and class, who have to stay aligned for years. Most of the practical know-how for running a project like this lives in planners' heads, in old spreadsheets and in scattered site notes rather than in any textbook. I built project2-me.com to put that knowledge in one place, in plain language, for the people who actually do the work.
